Fellow award for an instigator
of city therapy pool
Christine East, a major force behind the Hamilton hydrotherapy pool project, was named a Paul Harris Fellow last week.
Mrs
East was missed in Friday's Times' story about the Paul Harris Awards.
The Paul Harris Fellow is a Rotary award given in recognition of
meritorious service to the community.
Mrs
East was recognised by Rotary for her contribution to the hydrotherapy
pool. In 2004 Mrs East – with Margaret Holroyd – researched, wrote and
presented a submission to the Hamilton City Council setting a platform
for the pool at the Waterworld complex.
Since
getting the go-ahead Mrs East has helped raise funds towards the $2.1
million pool and worked alongside architects and a working party to
ensure the pool was designed to allow all those who needed to use it
easy access.
